Thanks to Shibuya Katsukichi, we are celebrating our 34th anniversary.

 

Thank you for your continued patronage of Katsukichi. Katsukichi Shibuya store will celebrate its 34th anniversary on December 1, 2023. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has always supported me. *In the article published the other day, I wrote “35th anniversary.” I will correct it m(__)m.

 

 

 

The two images above were taken on the opening day of Shibuya Katsukichi. Takezawa (the current head chef of the Shinmaru Building store) is on the far left of the first photo, and our former chairman is on the far right of the second photo. *Shibuya store underwent renovation work around 1999. When the restaurant first opened, the tatami-style seats were open and many soba choko dishes were displayed.

 

 

The Shibuya store opened in 1989. In January of that year, the era name changed from Showa to Heisei. It was a time when the world was still experiencing a booming economy known as the bubble economy.

 

 

Thanks to our connections at that time, we were invited by KDD Kaihatsu and decided to open a shop in Shibuya 3-chome. I have also heard of an introduction from Toshin Kaihatsu. At the time of opening the store, Shibuya 3-chome was not very crowded, and no one was interested in opening a store there, so it was not a very good location.

 

 

The back story is that the president at the time was addicted to handmade udon and wanted to run an udon shop. However, we received a response from the bank saying, “We will provide a loan for a tonkatsu restaurant,” so we decided to open a genuine tonkatsu restaurant.

 

 

Shortly after the Shibuya store opened (in the spring of 1991), the bubble economy collapsed. Due to this, the Shibuya store did not get off to a smooth start.

 

 

The Heisei era was also affected by major disasters (the Great Hanshin Earthquake and the Great Tohoku Earthquake). And then, with the arrival of Reiwa, a state of emergency was declared due to the coronavirus outbreak! There was also a situation.

 

 

We are celebrating our 35th anniversary thanks to our many customers who have always supported us. I am deeply grateful. We would also like to thank the vendors who seriously sell quality ingredients and the staff who work hard with cheerful smiles.

 

 

We will continue to work diligently to bring smiles to our customers’ faces and to impress them with our delicious food. Thank you for your continued support.
